A LITTLE LMHANA HISTORY &
GRATITUDE
Eight Years Ago:
Six NA groups in Johnstown &
Somerset came together and formed an Area Service Committee Called "CSASCNA"
Cambria/Somerset Area Service Committee of NA.
The Logo below " The Journey
Continues" was the first Tee Shirt we sold to raise funds for the CSASCNA
Helpline.
We had a Picnic called " UNITY DAY PICNIC" it's primary purpose was to carry the NA message of recovery by raising money to start the CSASCNA Helpline. The design was drawn on a napkin in Eat&Park, located in Westmont Boro in Johnstown. John from the old Thursday night NA group "It Works How & Why" at Hiram G Andrews school, did the drawing. He was a student there and we haven't seen him since he went back to Harrisburg. This also started a
series of fundraisers to get the money to start our Area NA literature Stock
pile, $300.00 worth of literature. The
Area Vice Chair at the time of the Helpline/Literature fundraisers stole
some $586.00 dollars of the Area money, we haven't seen her since then
either. Never the Less, WE got our
Helpline and literature up and running, and WE as an Area became stronger
because of it
During the next two
years the NA Groups of Altoona & Indiana joined the ASC and WE changed or
name to "LMHANA" Laurel Mountain Highlands Area of NA,
and we moved the ASC from Johnstown to Ebensburg so the ASC meeting sat in
the center of our Area.
Also, of course one year
after, the Unity Day Picnic it became the "LMHANA UNITY RETREAT- The Journey
Continues" a three day event. (we love to be grandiose)
LOOK AT US NOW: LMHANA, eight years
latter WE have:
32-Thirty Two NA Groups in 8 Counties meeting weekly A 1-800 NA Helpline answering
approx 120 calls a month
H&I (Hospitals & Institutions)
going into 6 faculties with an other 2 coming up.
PI reaching out to the public
telling them where to find us, and listing our Helpline # in the phone
books.
An Area NA meeting list
updated regularly
A three day event - "The Unity
Retreat -The Journey Continues"
A NA Literature Stock Pile
that sells approx $600 to $800 dollars of literature monthly to our NA
groups.
GRATITUDE:
I for one have been here from
the beginning and I know how it feels sometimes,
We think it's all to over
whelming, WE procrastinate, complain, gossip, resent, and feel like it's of
no use.
WE
SEEMED
TO BE INCAPABLE OF FACING LIFE ON LIFE'S TERM!
The fact is
we are capable of great stuff. We are a link in the
unbreakable NA chain of recovery and service.
WE have come together to give
away what has so freely been given to us.
This all helps us work these
Steps and Traditions into our lives.
As before WE will become
stronger!
To Those Who Have Came Before,
and Now:
Those who come after us may
never know our names or who we are inside, . . .
. . or will they?
